PaTH Program participant secures traineeship with HVTC

Paige Stanley is the first participant in our Skills Highway PaTH Program to successfully transition into a traineeship after undertaking an internship with HVTC last month.

Prior to the Program, Paige (pictured below with her supervisor at HVTC, Sharon Bushby) was working in Childcare but decided this wasn’t the right career for her, so she decided to pursue business administration. However, due to anxiety, Paige was experiencing barriers trying to get a start in her chosen career.

“I applied for the Program to conquer my fear of not doing anything. I wanted to come out of my shell and not be so shy about doing new things and learning new skills,” she said.

Paige enrolled in the PaTH Program a little over a month ago and underwent some foundation and industry specific skills training through the Central Coast Community College before being matched to HVTC for a trial internship.

“So far through the Program I’ve learnt a lot of new skills that I didn’t really know before, such as photocopying, filing, phone training so I can answer the phone correctly, print and enter data into different programs,” she said.

“I am a very shy person and get a little nervous trying new things that I don’t know how to do, so learning new skills is a very big thing for me, but I was excited. The internship helped me come out of my shell a lot.”

After impressing the team at HVTC, Paige was offered a full time Business Administration Traineeship with HVTC, which she commenced earlier this week. Paige’s supervisor Sharon Bushby, GTO Coordinator, said Paige is a great worker and HVTC is thrilled to have her on board.

“Paige is fitting in really well in our team and it’s been very rewarding to see her come out of her shell,” Sharon said.

“Her confidence and skills have already improved so much since she started her internship and I can’t wait to see how much she far she goes and how much she develops over the next 12 months.”
