HVTC 40th Anniversary - Nathan Anderson
Nathan Anderson is a former HVTC Warehousing trainee that completed his training in 2014 while hosted to Centennial Coal.
Now working as a Procurement Coordinator with The Bloomfield Group, Nathan has undertaken various short courses to further his knowledge and skills, and allow him to continue progressing in his career.
At age 26, Nathan decided that it was time for a career change, so after looking at his options, he thought the traineeship pathway would be the way to go.
“It gave me the opportunity to retrain in a different industry,” he said.
“When changing careers at 26 I would need support. I researched the Host Employer and HVTC and it seemed like the right choice.”
A highlight of Nathan’s experience as a trainee for him was having the chance to gain full time employment after completing his traineeship, as well as progressing to the NSW & ACT Group Training Awards to take out the Indigenous Trainee of the Year category.
Nathan says that he benefited greatly from the traineeship pathway as he had support from people across both HVTC and Centennial Coal throughout his training, while also having the opportunity to earn a wage and learn on-the-job at the same time.
