The Shire

Welcome to The Shire Group Training, connecting would-be apprentices and trainees with host employers in the southern Sydney region.
 
Employers turn to us because we:

  • ensure the apprenticeship/ traineeship experience is rewarding and successful for both parties.
That’s why we are achieving a successful completion rate of 90%, well above the national average of just 50%!
 
Many businesses, both large and small, use The Shire Group Training as part of their recruitment programs. We have successfully placed apprentices and trainees at ANSTO, Drakes Oyster Hatchery, Symbio Wildlife Park, Sutherland Shire Council, Scully and Associates, Enware Australia and many more local businesses.
 
The Shire Group Training is “not-for-profit” and began operations in April 2007 and is based in the Sutherland Shire Council business incubator the SSHED at Loftus. TSGT is part of the Hunter Valley Training Company established in 1981, now the largest employer of apprentices and trainees in NSW.

ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP- PEABODY ENERGY

Our Host, Peabody Energy is the world's largest coal mining company.  With a number of mining operations in Australia and continued growth in the industry, Peabody Energy is a great place to start your career. 

We currently have an excellent career opportunity for an Electrical Apprentice to join their Metropolitan Coal Mine as part of the Peabody Energy apprenticeship program. The mine is situated in Helensburgh.

Southern Region Awards night was held at Port Kembla Golf Club 27th March 2009.
