On Wednesday, 29 October 2008, representatives from the Hunter Valley Training Company OH & S Committee attended the Sydney Safety Show 2008 at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.

Supported by Principal Sponsor, WorkCover (NSW), THE SAFETY SHOW, SYDNEY is Australia's largest dedicated Workplace Health and Safety Trade Show. The 2008 event had 350+ companies displaying products and services to improve safety performance in the workplace and attendances of over 10,000 visitors from a wide variety of sectors. This is a clear indication of how important workplace health and safety is regarded in Australian industry.

The feedback from OH & S Committee members has been very positive. Members have made the following comments:

‘It provided me with valuable information on WorkCover NSW and Personal Protective Equipment’.

‘I was able to meet with Safety Manufacturers and training providers.  It allowed me to discuss and see the many new safety ideas available’.

‘Several lifting/manual handling innovations were on show as were Environmental Safety suppliers.  I had a chat with a couple of safety boot manufacturers regarding boots suitable for working on roofs. All in all I had a good day and learned a lot’.

The OH & S committee representatives met up with a number of staff from Illawarra Group Training, and The Shire Group Training.
