Former NBN TV news presenter is back on our TV screens in a commercial for her current employer Hunter Valley Training Company (HVTC).
The commercials went on air this week and will run for another five weeks across regional NSW. The commercials were produced locally by NBN’s David Threlfo who has recently returned to the station as its senior commercial producer.
The new “HVTC works for you” campaign is part of HVTC’s recruitment of apprentices, trainees and host employers for 2012. Ms Smith said the campaign emphasises HVTC’s strengths of achieving completion rates much higher than the national average as well as it experience as Australia’s oldest group training company.
“HVTC works for both apprentices and trainees as well as local businesses,” Ms Smith said.
“We provide skills to young people and provide local businesses with productive, job ready staff to help their business to grow,” she said.
Melinda left the TV industry in 2010 after 25 years in the business. In the latter part of her career at NBN, she presented the Sunday night news, the station’s highest rating program, while undertaking the role of NBN’s corporate projects manager during the week.
She is completing an Masters of Business at the University of Newcastle’s Graduate School while working as HVTC’s manager corporate affairs and communications. Last year she was also responsible for managing HVTC’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Melinda will also serve as Maitland’s Australia Day Ambassador for 2012 tomorrow. She continues to serve as patron for Family InSight, a not-for-profit organisation providing assistance to local families. She’s a life member of Hunter Youth Mentor Collaborative and is a patron for the Tamworth Musical Society.
