The Shoalhaven’s Brooke Eveleigh and Shoalhaven City Council have taken out awards at the Hunter Valley Training Company (HVTC) Southern Regions Annual Awards evening held at Port Kembla Golf Club on Friday April 1.
Ms Eveleigh won an Excellence in Studies Award. The 20 year old is studying a Certificate III in Business Administration while working for Host Employer, Shoalhaven City Council.
In other major awards, Shoalhaven City Council won the Host Employer Safety Award.
BlueScope Steel Limited took out the Apprentice Host Employer of the Year and Goulburn based Divall's Earthmoving and Bulk Haulage took out Trainee Host Employer of the Year in recognition of both company’s dedication and commitment towards the training and development of apprentices and trainees.
More than 170 people gathered to recognise the top apprentices, trainees and host employers from HVTC’s divisions - The Shire Group Training, Illawarra Group Training, Southern Tablelands Group Training and Shoalhaven Group Training. A total of 32 awards were handed out on the night.
HVTC Southern Regions area manager Chris Schofield congratulated Brooke and Shoalhaven City Council.
“Shoalhaven Group Training prides itself on recruiting high quality apprentices and trainees and giving them the best possible training so that they may have the skills to exceed in their chosen career,” Mr Schofield said.
“Thanks to the quality of local staff and great host employers, HVTC Group has apprenticeship and traineeship completion rates of 85%, well above the industry average of 50%,” he said.
