Apprenticeship & Traineeship Opportunities

Southern Tablelands Group Training, in conjuction with Host Goulburn Mulwaree Council, is looking for responsible, motivated and friendly applicants for a number of traineeship and apprenticeship opportunties based in Goulburn.

Plumbing Apprenticeship
The successful applicant will have an interest in the installation, maintenance and repair of pipes, drains, cladding, machanical services and related equipment for water supply, gas, drainage, sewage, heating and cooling and other systems. you will be attending CIT Fyshwick Campus 1 day per week. It is desirable to have a current drivers licence.
Essential Criteria:
  • School Certificate or equivalent
  • Workcover Construction Induction Certificate (or willing to obtain prior to commencement)

School Based Plumbing Apprenticeship
The successful applicant will be in year 10 or beginning of year 11, have an interest in becoming a plumber, and be willing to commit to a 5 year School Based Apprenticeship. Working 1 day per week during school terms and some holidays, attending school 3 days per week and attending CIT Fyshwick Campus 1 day per week. After the HSC this will convert to a full-time apprenticeship.
Essential Criteria:
  • Workcover Construction Induction Certificate (or willing to obtain prior to commencement)
  • Commitment to the completion of HSC over the duration of the school based component of the apprenticeship

Business Traineeship
We are seeking applications from well spoken candidates with good attention to detail, basic computer skills & high levels of initiative to complete a Certificate III in Business via distance education over 12 months. This position will be rotated between different departments within council over the duration of the traineeship.
Essential Criteria:
  • School Certificate or equivalent

School Based Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprenticeship
The successful applicant will be in Year 10 or beginning of Year 11, and willing to commit to a 5 year School Based Apprenticeship. Working 1 day per week during school terms and some holidays, attending school 3 days per week and attending Goulburn TAFE 1 day per week. After the HSC , this will convert to a full-time apprenticeship.
Essential Criteria:
  • Commitment to completion of HSC over the duration of the school based component of the apprenticeship.

Desirable Criteria (for all positions):
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be well presented
  • Proven ability to work well within a team
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the trade
  • Basic understanding of OH&S responsibilities
  • An excellent work ethic and commitment to a high standard of workmanship
