Health and safety at work is both an individual and shared responsibility and in line with this shared focus, our organisation has established key safety objectives involving all personnel to assist with the achievement of our overall goal.
- Establish & maintain an OHSMS that facilitates a structured approach to the management of OHS risk
- Provide sufficient & appropriate human, financial & time resources to ensure the effectiveness & sustainability of the system
- Keep current & up to date with relevant health & safety legislative obligations
- Promote a safety culture that encourages open consultation and communication; and empowers individuals to proactively manage health & safety risk through education, instruction, information, training & supervision
- Clearly define & communicate to Host Employers, staff, students & contractors; responsibilities in relation to health & safety
- Proactively identify & manage health & safety risk via a documented hazard identification, risk assessment, risk control & monitoring process
- Implement procedures that ensure incidents and hazards are promptly reported, investigated & control measures are put in place to control risks to as low as reasonably practicable
- Foster a collaborative safety partnership with Host Employers through the facilitation of consultation, risk management, monitoring & review of Host Employer OHS Management systems
- Routinely monitor & review OHS performance & the OHSMS to achieve continual improvement
To support these objectives Hunter Valley Training Company has implemented an OHSMS in line with Australian Standard 4801.
