Hon. Milton Morris AO
Foundation Chairman 1981 - 2011
Born and educated in Newcastle, Mr Morris started his career as an industrial officer with Stewarts and Lloyds in Newcastle, a position he held for 16 years. He became the Liberal Member for Maitland in the 1956 election and represented the constituency for 25 years. He served in the Minister in three portfolios from 1965 to 1976, and holds the NSW record as the longest serving Minister for Transport.

Kay Sharp AM
Executive Director
Before joining the Board in 2002 Mrs Sharp was Chief Executive Office of HVTC since it started in 1981. She was born and educated in Maitland and started her career as a stenographer with the Maitland City Council.

Deputy Chairman
Richard Owens joined the HVTC Board in May 2011 and is chairman of his family’s diversified retail, real estate and investment company in Sydney.

Mick Sheils OAM
Director
Mr Sheils was appointed to the Board in 1997, bringing to it his expertise in both industry and industrial relations. He originally joined as a representative of Transfield Pty. Ltd and now represents the John Holland Group Pty. Ltd.

Robert Puffett AM
Director
Mr Puffett joined the Board in February 2011. He is former Chairman of WorldSkills Australia and remains an ambassador for the organisation.Starting his working life as an apprentice plumber, Mr Puffett worked his trade until he joined TAFE as a technical teacher. He progressed to Head of School then College Principal. He went on to become Director of Industrial Relations and Director of the Sydney Institute.

Peter McPherson
Director
Mr McPherson came on to the Board in October 2003. Born and bred in Maitland he is an electrician by trade, with 17 years experience contracting in the steel industry, coal mines, power stations and on construction sites. He spent 13 years as an organiser with the Electrical Trades Union based in Sydney and Newcastle.
